Psychology is the study of behaviour and mind, embracing all aspects of conscious and unconscious experiences as well as thoughts and feelings. Psychology is a social science, which seeks to understand individuals and groups by establishing general principles gained via scientific research. In this field, a professional therapist is called a psychologist. They will have spent many years exploring behaviour and mental processes and learnt about, through studying scientific research, humans and their thinking.
When psychology is applied in a therapeutic setting it can assist in doing several things: assessing for specific symptoms, providing intervention, assist in improving understanding of ones behaviour and make changes to unwanted behaviour.
The goal of attending therapy to do psychological work might be to make changes to oneself in a broader sense than working through a specific life challenge.
A commonly used psychological intervention would be Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – C.B.T.
We have specialist practices in Northampton, Milton Keynes, London and other surrounding areas. Additionally we can offer online psychologist therapy for those who are further afield or are struggling to make it to a practice.
